Pitching Lab LogoThe Pitching Lab is a complete off-season training protocol over a 4-month time period for pitchers in a what we refer to as a “Closed Loop” environment by combining pitching instruction and pitcher-specific strength training.  This approach has been used by many of the most successful college programs in the country, and it is the same approach that has been utilized by professional baseball for decades.  The program begins in late October / early November and ends in late February.  It encompasses 4 months of pitcher-specific strength.training and nearly 20 throwing and pitching sessions from mid-December through end of February.  The following is a summary schedule:

Working in a “closed loop” will allow us to address flexibility deficits in a pitcher and how it impacts their mechanics.  These deficits can range from lack of hip and/or thoracic spine mobility to glenohumeral internal rotation deficit (GIRD), among other limitations. We’ll address any issues with a variety of strength and mobility protocols which over time will allow a pitcher to substantially improve their mechanics and performance.  The net result of all this is an environment where your pitching instructor is in constant dialog with your strength coach to help you become the best that you can be.  The end goal is to improve the player’s movement strategy, and consequently improve both mechanics and velocity all the while reducing the risk of injury during a long season.

The program takes place in a collegiate setting, complete with indoor dirt mounds, bio-mechanical analysis and a state-of-the-art weight room to help you maximize your training during the off-season (please feel free to click here for additional details about the Pitching Lab Protocol).  The following is a brief summary of the highlights:
