Most often pitchers and position players associate their pitching velocity, bat speed or exit velo with their mechanics. As our understanding of the body and technology has improved over the years, it is now more apparent than ever, that your ceiling is limited by your physical ability as much as anything else.
First let’s be clear, there isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” solution when it comes to training. As a result, our assessment covers an extensive range of topics that helps us determine the overall mobility, elasticity, physicality, and strength and power production of our athletes. The information provides an excellent roadmap when developing a customized training program. In general terms, the assessment includes the following:
-
- Anthropometrics
- Mobility – Lower and upper half
- Strength – Lower and upper half
- Power – Lower and upper half (Proteus required for upper)
- Elasticity – Lower and upper half (Proteus required for upper)
- Deceleration
- Speed
- Body fat % and lean muscle mass ratios
- Force Velocity Profile
In addition, we can also perform a mechanical analysis to prescribe movement correctives that can help athlete improve delivery, swing and sequencing.
By the time an athlete has completed our evaluation, we have an excellent idea of his strengths and weaknesses. There is NO better blueprint. Here is a brief video on the assessment:
In addition, given our historical intake of this type of information, we have assembled target ranges for each, and every metric based on age and level. This in turn allows us to, not only develop a complete plan but also, immediately identify the lowest hanging fruit to improve performance.
The metrics listed below are based on a Scale of 100. These ratings allow us to identify the areas with the greatest room for improvement. As each athlete relies on different degrees of these metrics to create their athleticism, being able to see room for improvement at-a-glance is key in order to create a more efficient program that addresses each athlete’s individual needs. It can also provide the athlete with an aha! moment, when they feel stuck at a given velocity.

Summary Results and Prepared Reports
The following is a summary of deliverables after the assessments:
-
- Summary report of the assessment, with specific highlights, as well as the prime training focus for each athlete
- Individualized mobility routines for each athlete based on their personal movement screen
- Individualized plyometric programming complete with training phase recommendations to help build explosiveness
- Blueprint programming for individualized strength training, designed to maximize strength and power output
- Individualized video analysis to help prescribe movement correctives
Every athlete is different and as a result, so should their training. Finding the right starting point for each athlete (and they ARE different) is key. Our assessment and reports help maximize and maintain strengths, improve power and explosiveness, while focusing on improving weaknesses and reducing the risk of injury.
Testimonials
Matt Williams Pitching Coach (Coastal Carolina University)
“I can say without any reservation that RPP is one of the best in the business, perhaps even the best at what they do.”
“This past year, for the 2nd year in a row, I asked Nunzio and his staff to join us to perform a comprehensive evaluation of all of our guys. Over a 2-day period they assessed our pitchers physically and analyzed their movement quality on the mound.
They begin by highlighting the lowest hanging fruit from a mobility, strength, power and movement standpoint and then guide us on how to use the information to build our own strength programs. They also provided individualized movement correctives to help our pitchers improve their movement quality on the mound.
I’ve seen a good amount over the years and I can say without any reservation that RPP is one of the best in the business, perhaps even the best at what they do.”
Terry Rooney, Pitching Coach (University of South Carolina)
“Without a doubt, they set the gold standard with their evals.”
“This past year we asked Nunzio and the RPP staff to visit with us at South Carolina to perform a comprehensive assessment and evaluation of all of our pitchers. They covered every aspect of the athlete, from mobility to strength to power and overall athleticism and movement.
At the conclusion, they prepared a summary of each athlete’s results which gave us a roadmap for training them in the weight room plus individualized drills and movement correctives to help our pitchers improve their overall delivery. Without a doubt, they set the gold standard with their evals.”
Drew Dickinson, Pitching Coach (University of Virginia
“They are one of a handful of facilities in the country that have the know-how, systems and wherewithal to take you to the next level.”
“I have been following Nunzio Signore and RPP Baseball for quite some time. Their knowledge in player development and their training programs are at the cutting edge of where the sport currently resides, whether we’re talking about high school, college or pro ball. They are one of a handful of facilities in the country that have the know-how, systems and wherewithal to take you to the next level.”
Corey Muscara, Pitching Coach (Wake Forest University)
“Few facilities come close to their standing in the industry.”
“RPP continually develops some of the best up-and-coming talent in high school baseball. Their programming is always at the leading edge of what’s going on in player development, and their results speak for themselves. Few facilities come close to their standing in the industry.”
