Jonas Martinez Turning Heads this Spring on the Mound and Behind the Plate

Jonas Martinez, 5’9”, 165-pound junior at Lodi High School, is turning heads this season with standout performances both at the plate and on the mound. While his talent and work ethic were never in question, the work Jonas put in during the off-season at RPP Baseball has helped elevate his game to another level.

Jonas’ commitment to refining his pitching mechanics was evident from the moment he stepped into the facility. Although his mechanics were solid overall, we identified a few key disconnects that needed to be addressed. One of our primary focuses was maintaining tension in his rear leg during the stride phase, preventing him from jumping into lead-foot plant. This adjustment improved his timing and allowed for better hip-to-shoulder separation. The result has been a smoother, more efficient, and more powerful delivery, making him a tougher presence on the mound.

Jonas also dedicated significant time to strength training, with an emphasis on developing his lower half and core. This physical development played a major role in helping him control the excessive lateral tilt he previously displayed at foot plant, a subtle flaw that could affect both consistency and power. Through targeted training, Jonas improved his stability and body control, giving him the foundation needed to take his pitching to the next level.

The results of his off-season work are clear in his performance this year. At the plate, Jonas is hitting an impressive .400 with a .733 slugging percentage, showcasing his ability to drive the baseball and produce runs for his team.

On the mound, his progress has been equally impressive. His ERA has dropped from 4.14 last season to 2.94 this year, a testament to the improvements he has made in both his mechanics and physical development.

Jonas’ dedication to training during both the off-season and in-season has helped him become not only stronger, but also more technically efficient. As the season continues, he stands as a great example of what can be accomplished through focused and consistent work. His journey at RPP Baseball has provided him with the tools to excel, and his current performance reflects the payoff of months of disciplined effort and hard work.

Great job my man….
