My guest today is Dr. Kristen Nicholson from Wake Forest University, where she has been the Director of the renowned Wake Forest Pitching Lab since October 2018 as the head of biomechanics research. In today’s podcast, we’ll talk about the value of motion capture in not only uncovering mechanical flaws, but also review some of the “big players” from a mechanics standpoint that can help improve velocity while at the same time, reducing the risk of injury.
Dr. Nicholson is also currently an Assistant Professor in Orthopedic Surgery at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as well as the President of the Baseball Biomechanics Association.
By way of background, Dr. Nicholson was one of our first stops three years ago when we were researching and pursuing the purchase of a motion capture system. They use Qualisys Motion Capture at Wake Forest and her recommendation along with others is one of the reasons we purchased our own Qualisys mocap system.
